The Street Hypnotist

“Cult hypnotist, Peter Powers, is the badass version of Derren Brown”-

Zoo Magazine

Wicked mindbender Peter Powers took his unique brand of mesmerising mayhem to the streets of the UK where willing volunteers took part in comedy stunts: one bloke became the world’s most famous stand up comedian, another sat his driving test and there was the checkout girl who hated her customers.

The whole idea of taking hypnotic comedy to the street and interesting locations, instead of the constraints of the studio, was that of Peter Powers.

It took almost 10 years of pitching the idea for it to finally come to fruition.
Even his first shows on Channel 5 were originally planned for the street, It was such an unknown and untested concept, no one would fully embrace the idea or commission it…..until Bravo, that is.

Peter Power is ‘The Street Hypnotist’ and the original creator of ‘Street Hypnosis’ and its concept.

The filming took place in Glasgow, Dundee, Leeds, Birmingham and Brighton.

Peter remembers:
“We were filming in the winter and my hypnotic subjects had to frequently be taken into the nearest cafes for a warm up between stunts.
I remember the poor guy who stripped in a public telephone box and another who bathed in fountain. The temperature was less than 2 degrees!
It was a lot of fun to shoot and we had an amazing and talented crew.”

“Forget Derren Brown and Paul McKenna, here’s a man who puts the ‘hyp’ into hypnotism.” – Daily Record
